FIREFIGHTERS will pick up their hoses to clean cars this weekend.

On Saturday firefighters, fire cadets and volunteers will be out with their buckets and sponges to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The car wash will take place at Ellesmere Port Community Fire Station, Wellington Road, and staff will provide drivers with road safety advice between 10am and 4pm.

Fire Fighters Charity chairman and Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin said: “The charity car wash is a great way to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which has provided assistance to serving and retired firefighters for more than 60 years and also increases awareness of road safety.

“Unfortunately our firefighters see first hand the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions and I really hope that drivers will go along to their local fire station and support this event as they will not only be helping The Fire Fighters Charity but they will also take away vital road safety advice which could save their lives.”
