THE PROCEEDS of a charity ball will buy new equipment and furniture to support patients at Nightingale House hospice.

In total, £2,000 was raised by guests at the Best Western Cross Lanes Hotel, Marchwiel, Wrexham, at a ball to mark the owner Michael Kagan’s 21 years as proprietor.

More than 100 people attended the bash with businesses donating raffle prizes and sponsoring food for the five- course meal created by the hotel’s head chef.

Mr Kagan said: “The ball was a well-supported and glamorous occasion. We are delighted with the amount of money raised for Nightingale House Hospice.

“The hospice has pledged to use the money to buy more reclining chairs for patients.”

Michael and the hotel’s events co-ordinator, Barbara Wren, handed over the money during a visit and tour of the hospice.

They met David James, a day-patient at the hospice and someone who will benefit from the new reclining chair.

Michael added: “It was a privilege to meet David and his family and see, first hand, just how important the work of Nightingale House is.”

Any money left over from buying the reclining chair will be used to support the hospice.

On February 6, the hotel is holding a disco and hotpot supper in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness, with guests invited to wear pink. Visit www.crosslanes.co.uk or call 01978 780555.
