THE site of a former Great Sutton primary school could be turned into apartments for the elderly.

Cheshire County Council have put forward a planning application to convert the land at Gorsthills in Berry Drive into 87 extra care homes.

The public has until Thursday, November 20 to submit their views to the borough council with a final decision due by December 18.

The development would see four full-time and eight part-time jobs created with the community buildings open between 9am-10.30pm every day, including bank holidays.

Gorsthills was closed in the summer of 2007 following a long-running campaign to try and save the school.

The buildings were demolished soon after following concerns raised by school governors and residents over vandals targeting the site.
