TWO teams of Winsford firefighters were called out at the same time on Friday evening, January 2, after blazes were started deliberately at New Road and Bradbury Road.

The New Road fire was reported at 6.43pm when a Land Rover Freelander, which was earlier stolen from Over Way, was spotted ablaze near salt stockpiles. And a second crew was called out to the Wharton estate minutes later after litter was set alight in a derelict garage.

Police believe both were started deliberately, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Other small rubbish fires were started on Finsbury Walk on January 3 and 4, and at Ribble Avenue and Moss Bank on January 4.
