A BUS service has been introduced linking Ellesmere Port with the MS Support Centre in Saltney.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has introduced a wheelchair-accessible minibus service, enabling the MS Support Centre to extend its opening times on Fridays.

The centre offers therapies provided by qualified professionals, and support and information to people with MS, Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions and their carers.

The centre has joined forces with local branches of the MS Society and Parkinson’s UK. By working together, the three charities aim to improve the quality of life for people, enabling regular attendance at the centre.

Cllr Lynn Riley, executive member for community and environment, said: “This service is already popular with people from Ellesmere Port and I hope that more will start using this service and benefit attending the MS Support Centre.”

Jane Johnston Cree, MS Support Centre manager, said: “The MS Support Centre is very grateful to Gerard Rhodes and his team at the council who have helped enormously by providing transport for more people to access the centre from Ellesmere Port, enabling them to access specialist physiotherapy and fitness instruction, as well as counselling, all important factors in maintaining health and well-being when living with a long-term neurological condition.”

Ellesmere Port councillor Lynn Clare said: “This new link between Ellesmere Port and the MS Support Centre is very much welcomed.

“I am sure it is being well used as it is an important addition to people who want to visit the Saltney centre.”

Arriving at about 11.30am, the minibus returns at 2.15pm.
