The 675 staff at West Cheshire College feel inspired and motivated to make the institution exceptional, according to a review.

The finding comes as the college celebrates gaining the Investors in People Silver Standard award.

The award was given to mark improvements in the college’s approach and procedures over the past 12 months.

It followed a review by assessors from Investors in People, the Government-owned body which is responsible for promoting and developing standards in the workplace.

Assessors visited the college and spoke to staff, 425 of whom are employed at the Ellesmere Port campus, to gather feedback on how the college has changed in the past year.

Their overall conclusion stated ‘the future for the college looks very bright and there is belief that with its exciting buildings and resources and the quality of commitment from its people efforts will come together to deliver a truly exceptional student experience.’

The leadership at the college was praised throughout the report as it ‘enabled the potential of West Cheshire College’s committed and caring employees to shine through’.

Employees found that their experience at work had changed as they ‘feel inspired and motivated to do their very best to make West Cheshire College exceptional.’

The review assessed a range of topics including overall organisation and communication, values, leadership and management, board development, performance management and corporate social responsibility.

Principal Nigel Davies said:“We are delighted the college has received the Investors in People Silver Standard award.

“We have been working exceptionally hard over the past 12 months to improve processes at the college.

“We have been continually assessing and amending the way we work to create a better experience for our employees but, most importantly, our students and this report shows that we have achieved that.”

Paul Devoy, head of Investors in People, added:“Achieving the Investors in People Silver standard is something that any organisation should be truly proud of.

“It is the sign of a company which is very committed to good people management practice and we’d like to congratulate West Cheshire College on their achievement.”
