Blacon's first Christmas lights switch on

Local councillors start new tradition

Carol service during the Christmas lights switch on in Blacon

Blacon councillors have funded Christmas lights this year from their members’ budgets with the support of the local community.

Cllr Reggie Jones said “We’re aware that this is going to be a difficult Christmas for many people this year, and so we wanted to start a new tradition in Blacon of having festive lights and a short carol service on the evening the lights are switched on.’”

Cllr Carolyn Graham said “This is something that we’ve really wanted to do, and we can build on this year on year. We’re hoping to have a big Christmas tree at the Parade next year when works are complete. If any businesses in Chester would like to support or sponsor this initiative, then please contact us in the new year.”
