Attraction offers bird’s eye views of Ellesmere Port
Residents and visitors to Ellesmere Port town centre can have fantastic birds’ eye views of the town and beyond thanks to the arrival of a 33m-high observation wheel.
The giant wheel will be open to everyone and will be in its new home in Civic Square until Sunday October 27.
Brought to the town by the Jan de Koning Leisure Group, the wheel will be open from 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and noon to 6pm on Sundays.
Costing £3.50 for an adult ticket and £3 for children, families of two adults and two children or one adult and three children can travel for £10.
“I am delighted with the news that Ellesmere Port is getting its very own big wheel.
“This is us trying something new and I hope that it will attract more people into the town centre,” said Ellesmere Port Town ward borough councillor Justin Madders (Lab).
“This innovative new project has been tried in many other places with great success. I hope that we have some clear weather over the coming weeks so that people get to see some really great views of the whole of the surrounding area.”
Jan de Koning added:“We are very happy to be presenting the Vue wheel at Ellesmere Port and I am sure it will prove to be a very popular attraction in the town centre.
“Wherever we have presented the wheel in the past has always proved a big hit, both with local residents and the many visitors it invariably draws into town centres.”
Les Lyon, manager of the Port Arcades Shopping Centre, commented:“We are very much looking forward to welcoming the big wheel to Ellesmere Port town centre.
“It will be a fantastic attraction and a true complement to our own forthcoming schedule of entertainment during Hallowe’en.”
