Baby boa rattled by capture

AN ESCAPED snake said to have 'a bad attitude' has been recaptured.

AN ESCAPED snake said to have 'a bad attitude' has been recaptured.

The boa constrictor, called Sid Vicious, was found by a member of the public in Prunus Road, in Crewe, after disappearing from its home above a shop in Coronation Crescent.

Although only a baby, it is four-foot long and police were concerned it could bite someone.

A police spokesman said: 'It is described by its owner as only a baby, but it has not eaten since Wednesday and is described as having a bad attitude.'

Sid's owner, demolition worker Jason Freeman, 28, said: 'I realised it was missing on Friday when my girlfriend called to say it had escaped.

'I ransacked the flat and searched all weekend for it but couldn't find it and eventually called the police.

'It had got out through a small hole in the aquarium where the wires go through. It is only a baby but it is very vicious and will bite.'

The RSPCA's Superintendent Bill Cottingham said: 'We do get quite a lot a of calls about escaping snakes which shows the problems of keeping them in private houses.'
