A FAIRTRADE breakfast awaited pupils turning up at a Little Neston primary school last week.

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, the children of St Winefride’s Catholic Primary School took part in a Fairtrade breakfast.

They enjoyed toast with jam, marmalade or chocolate spread, cereal bars and banana bread washed down with hot chocolate and fresh orange.

The entirely Fairtrade breakfast followed work by the children, who learnt why Catholic aid agency CAFOD and other charities helped to form the Fairtrade Foundation nearly 20 years ago.

Sainsbury’s Neston store donated bread and bananas and Roy Wilson, a representative from the store, held a Fairtrade quiz.

The children all made a donation towards the breakfast, and any money raised will be sent to CAFOD as part of their fundraising for Lent.
