THE KING’S School is celebrating its best-ever A-level results with 11 students heading to Cambridge and Oxford.

With more A*/A grades than ever before in its history, King’s had a stunning 28.5% of the results at the coveted A* grade, with 67.2% at A*/A grade. Just on half of King’s pupils gained A*/A grades in every subject.

The A* grade, introduced last year, is designed to highlight the very best students and King’s is delighted that 26 pupils’ results included two or more A* grades.

Headmaster Chris Ramsey said: "After working incredibly hard, the upper sixth students have reaped the benefits with the vast majority now heading to their first choice university.

"Taught by a dedicated teaching staff and with a curriculum which goes well beyond the confines of the A level syllabus, King’s is immensely proud of the confident, articulate and independent-thinking young men and women who are leaving this year. We wish them well in their future careers."

Edward Andrade (4A*, 1 A), Lewis Ankers (3 A*, 2 A) and Siobhan Barnard, Matthew Chadwick, Adam Davies, Joe Dillamore, James Edholm, Christopher Jarvis and Oliver Tattersall each came away with four A* grades.

Other high achievers include Joe Bentley of Marford (3A*, 1A), James Goulbourne (3A*), Robin Johnson (3 A*, 1 A), David Leyland (3 A), Tom Menzies (3 A*, 1 A) and Ed Pilkington (3 A*, 1 A). A further 11 students gained 2A* grades.
