ECSTATIC students at Tarporley High School were jumping for joy after they opened their A-Level results.

Fifty-two per cent of students achieved top grades this year, with one in three grades being either an A* or A, and the majority of students getting into their first choice university.

There were many outstanding achievements, including:

Lorna Douthwaite (4 A*, 1 A), Charlie Plumridge (4 A*), Michael Ridge (2A*, 1 A), Ben Lawrence Smith (2 A*, 3A), Poppy Thomas (2 A*, 1 A), Naomi Kelly (1 A* 3 A), Isaac McClellan (4 A) and Tali Wilson (1A*, 2A).

Jason Lowe, director of Sixth Form, said the results were ‘outstanding’.

"Today has been an absolute pleasure for us here at school and they have been an outstanding year group who have not only developed academically during their time here at Tarporley, but also personally, as individuals," he said.

"Our students have contributed so much to the life of the school and to the local community, and are frequently praised for their mature approach, their teamwork and their leadership," he added.

"Today is a fitting reward for all their hard work, supported by their families and the dedicated staff at the school. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them every success in their next pathway in life. We really will miss them all."

Head of Science, Richard Gillard, praised the hard work put in by both students at staff, saying:

"The brilliant set of results this year is a testament to how hard everybody has worked."
