High street retailer Debenhams says more than 1,500 have applied for 120 jobs at its new store in Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port.

The 50,000 square foot department store at the Coliseum Shopping Centre will open tomorrow (Thursday) and store manager Penelope Rawson said it had been inundated with applications from local people.

She added: “We’re really looking forward to bringing Debenhams to Cheshire Oaks.

“It’s the perfect location for our new store what with its great mix of high street and designer brands.”

“We’re looking forward to our launch. We’ve recruited a fantastic team from the local community who are currently in training and excited to show off the new store.

“We hope people will come and join us for our official opening day, we can’t wait to open the doors and show you what we have in store.”

The new outlet will boast beauty houses including Clarins, Benefit, Lancome, Urban Decay and Estee Launder.

The company said: “Both men and women will be able to enjoy designer fashion at high street prices with the Designers at Debenhams range including collections from Julien Macdonald, John Rocha, Patrick Grant and Jasper Conran.”
