GARDEN Village Institute Art Group celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Acton Pub and Wrexham mayor Aled Roberts was there to congratulate the members.

The group's teacher Margaret Roberts started the watercolour painting classes 10 years ago and has been enjoying it ever since.

She said: 'We have a wonderful group of people, including Joan Brown who has been coming along since the beginning. We have between 15-25 members and I try to make it good fun and not too serious.

'We meet in the Institute in Kenyon Avenue every Wednesday morning and we do lots of different things. We do a lot of work from photographs and recently we had a terrier called Harvey.

'He didn't want to keep still so we had some fun with him. We do demonstrations throughout the year and outside projects in the summer.

'It has become a social group as well, with a Christmas lunch every year.

'I also do adult evening classes at Ysgol Bryn Alyn in Gwersyllt and I feel very lucky I can do a job which I love and has been my hobby since I was a child.

'I don't sell very many because I put so much of myself into the painting that I don't want to part with it.'
