Christmas is coming to Handbridge and Westminster Park as festive lights have been switched on.

The events, at the Old Dee Bridge and at Westminster Park Shops were supported by local councillors Razia Daniels and Neil Sullivan.

Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Jill Houlbrook, switched on the Christmas lights  in Handbridge where carol singing was led by St Mary's Church Choir and students of Overleigh St Mary’s CE Primary School.

Children were invited to visit Santa’s grotto, built by students from West Cheshire College and organised by Marjorie Meacock,  at the petrol station.

Money was raised for The Deafness Support Network to sponsor the training of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.  Mulled wine and mince pies were served at the Brown Sugar Cafe.

In Westminster Park the lights were switched by Cllr Daniels and organised by Westminster Park Residents Association.

Carol singing was led by St Mary's Church Choir, Dee Sign Choir and students of Belgrave Primary School.
