Chester History and Heritage Centre has taken us back to times gone by with these oft-forgotten snaps of Chester decades ago.

Many of you may have fond memories from the late 1960s, when hot summers could be spent in a large paddling pool on Sandy Lane, sometimes called ‘The Lido’ among locals.

And perhaps you had a pint at The Cestrian Arms pub on Sealand Road which is long gone today?

Chester had its fair share of nightclubs in the 1970s and 80s, and the Silhouette on Watergate Street was one of the city’s most popular, even featuring mirrored floors.

Other sights you might remember here are Blakes bakery on Watergate Street Row and Chanticleer Restaurant on Bridge Street where members of band The Scaffold were rumoured to have once eaten.
