Currently on display at Chester’s History and Heritage Centre is the Spotlight on Great Boughton exhibition which runs until December 20.

The display illustrates the vivid and sometimes gruesome history of the parish, featuring the long demolished hospital and graveyard of St Giles, the infamous Gallows Hill and the various trades, industries and streets associated with the area.

On November 6 there is to be a guided tour, called ‘From Spital to Shot’,  which departs from the Canal Bridge in City Road at 1.30pm.

Tickets are £5 and booking is essential at Chester History and Heritage.
