What was the former Destiny and Elite nightclub on the Coliseum Leisure Park will see an indoor adventure golf complex with up to 300 players at a time thronging the tees.

The nightclub closed in 2012 after 12 years and the new 13,000ft golfing attraction will take its place at Cheshire Oaks where once dance floors used to throng.

The dance floors at Destiny and Elite emptied for the last time after hundreds of revellers had packed the venue for a chance to relive the biggest anthems of the past decade at the club’s closing-down party.

Memories of Destiny and Elite nightclub

No-one from Destiny and Elite was available to comment but it was believed to have closed for financial reasons.

The club had experienced highs and lows since opening in 2000 from hosting pop superstars and a marriage blessing, to witnessing protests from disgruntled residents and taxi drivers and a number of violent attacks. In 2009 a decision to slash booze prices to just 90p in a bid to attract recession-hit drinkers prompted condemnation from the police and MP Andrew Miller.

The nightclub argued the new weekend offers made it affordable for club-goers affected by the credit crunch and that measures were in place to prevent irresponsible drinking.
