One of the biggest babies born at the Countess of Chester Hospital in the past five years has been revealed.

Lili Makin made her entrance into the world in 2010 tipping the scales at an eye-watering 11lb 9oz.

The midwife delivering Lili, now a thriving five-year-old, even thought the scales were broken

Lili’s mum Laura Makin, from Flint, said: “Lili was born in September 2010, two days early.

“My eldest daughter was 9lb 8oz so we were prepared for a large baby but the midwife was shocked at her weight.

“She said she was the biggest she had helped deliver naturally and even got new scales as she thought they were broken.”

Last week the Chronicle reported that the heaviest baby born at the Countess between 2010 and 2014 weighed 11lb 11oz – just 2oz more than Lili – according to figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

The average eight of the hospital’s newborns during that period was 7lb 8oz.

Laura added: “I can’t believe she was one of the biggest as to me she didn’t seem big but compared to the other babies on the maternity ward it was obvious she was bigger as she filled the cribs.”
