A violent motorist ploughed into a car wash employee as shocked customers watched in horror, say police.

A member of staff was taken to hospital after a vehicle allegedly drove into him during the incident at Sutton Weaver Hand Car Wash near Frodsham.

Police are now hunting the driver of a silver Ford Mondeo and the occupants of a white Transit Van, in connection with the incident which police say was 'unprovoked' and believed to have been sparked by a 'parking issue'.

The occupants of the van, believed to be a group of men, ripped off the number plates before speeding away from the scene at around 11.30am on Thursday, September 11, say police.

Motorists having their cars cleaned at the popular car wash, off Chester Road, are said to have witnessed the violent attack, which saw one member of staff taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forwards as they hunt for the drivers, which they say happened while many people were having their cars washed.

PC Dave Walton, of Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said that workmen working on the Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge restoration, business owners and motorists, would have seen the van speed away from the scene – the van would stand out as it did not have number plates.

“There were people having their car washed at the time, some of which we know of and some we don’t know of,” said PC Walton.

“It is a busy road, there were a lot of workmen on the Swing Bridge who could have seen the van go off at speed.

“Any customers or anyone using nearby businesses at that time would have seen what was going on.”
