Ellesmere Port and Neston Labour MP Andrew Miller has marked Holocaust Memorial Day by signing the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment in the House of Commons.

The book honours those who died during the Holocaust as well as honouring the extraordinary survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people about what they endured.

Thousands of commemorative events will be arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, remembering all the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.

Mr Miller said: “Holocaust Memorial Day on Monday (January 27) marks the 69th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and is an important opportunity to remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.

“It is vital that we not only remember and learn from the appalling events of the Holocaust but also ensure that we continue to challenge anti-semitism and all forms of bigotry. I encourage all constituents to mark the day and to join together in the fight against prejudice and intolerance.”
