The family of a brave little boy from Ellesmere Port, who is battling an extremely rare form of cancer, have set up a fund to raise money to help them make memories with their beloved son and brother.

Chester FC fan Cameron Rowley, 10, was diagnosed with desmoplastic small-round-cell tumour (DSRCT) – a very rare and aggressive form of cancer - in April 2015 after being taken ill during a family holiday to Mexico for his uncle’s wedding.

In October Cameron swam with dolphins in Florida during a trip arranged by the charity Dreamflight

Since then Cameron who attends The Oaks Primary School in Ellesmere Port has undergone chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumours at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital followed by radiotherapy treatment at Clatterbridge Hospital in Wirral.

All seemed to be going well until Cameron’s last scan showed the tumour was showing signs of regrowth.

Cameron’s parents Brendan and Jacqueline were given the heartbreaking news that the only option was another type of chemotherapy which would have the sole purpose of prolonging and improving Cameron’s quality of life and that without treatment his prognosis could be as little as 2-3 months.

Brendan said: “I really don’t know how long we have left with Cameron and whether this will be his last Christmas with us, the prognosis is not very good for Cameron’s type of cancer.

“There are lots of things I would love to do with him and his brothers and any donation would be greatly appreciated and would help put a smile on his little face and also help his brothers spend some quality time with him.”

The Cameron’s Wishes fund raised over £3,000 within 24 hours of being set up.

Brendan added: “We’re absolutely amazed by the kindness and generosity from friends, family, and people who we don’t know but have been kind enough to read his story and want to donate.”
