The Cheshire Chord Company has celebrated its 21st birthday in style with a fabulous summer ball in Cuddington.

As well as dancing the night away – and singing of course – they also celebrated the success of their quartet Close Encounter, which earlier the same day qualified for the semi finals of the national quartet competition to be held in Harrogate in October.

Following the major success of the Learn To Sing course at the beginning of 2014, they now have more than 20 new members which has increased membership to 65 ladies.

The chorus continues to work hard to prepare for forthcoming shows and competitions. In March at the Pontefract Music Festival they were awarded first place with distinction in the barbershop category.

In the same month in Dortmund, Germany, they represented their association at the Barbershop in Germany Convention.

The choir sang at the Llangollen Eisteddfod where they won the Barbershop class, reciving a prize of £1000.

They also performed at the Chief Constable’s Concert at Greater Manchester Police headquarters, together with the GMP Symphonic Band in aid of Retrak.

Their next performance is with the Warrington Male Voice Choir at Parr Hall in Warrington on Saturday, September 20.

Public relations officer Debby Hirst said: “The work now continues in preparation for the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers national competition at the end of October in Harrogate, where we will be competing against more than 30 ladies choruses and we aim to impress both judges and audience with our fabulous new song package, new choreography and costumes.

“Our rehearsal schedule is hard work but always good fun.”

For more information, the company would be happy to see you at one of their rehearsals which take place at Beaumont Collegiate Academy, Orford, Warrington WA2 8PX, every Thursday night. To make arrangements to visit go to www.cheshirechord.co.uk .
