A joint funeral will be held for a Chester couple who lost their lives in a plane crash.

Pilot Gary Vickers, 58, and his girlfriend Kaye Clarke, 43, died after their twin-engine light aircraft came down at Hawarden Airport on Friday, November 15.

The couple, who had been together six years and lived at Dingle Bank, Curzon Park, flew in Mr Vickers’ plane regularly and were on their way back from a shopping trip to Paris.

Mr Vickers, who co-owned the Mill Hotel in Chester with his father Gordon, 84, had two children from a previous marriage.

Yesterday, Gordon said the bodies had been released by Glan Clwyd Hospital in and are now in the chapel of rest at funeral directors George Pettit and Son in Chester.

A double funeral will be held at Blacon Crematorium at 2.40pm on Friday, November 29.

Inquests into the deaths have been opened and adjourned by North East Wales coroner John Gittins at County Hall in Ruthin.

Post-mortem examinations carried out earlier this week provisionally established causes of death being head and chest injuries for Mr Vickers and shock and haemorrhage for Miss Clarke.
