With just one hit record to his name, it’s fair to say that revived popstar Adam Rickitt faced some challenges when recording with his new band during an episode of ITV2’s The Big Reunion.

The Cuddington heart-throb, most famed for playing Nick Tilsley in Coronation Street in the late 1990s, has teamed up with former teen chart pin-ups Kavana, Gareth Gates, Blazin’ Squad’s Kenzie and Dane Bowers on the show to form brand new all-male supergroup 5th Story, as they prepare for an upcoming live show.

Last week the boys went back to school for singing lessons as they rehearsed - but not everyone found it an easy experience.

When it came to each member performing one of their songs, 35-year-old Adam only had one to choose from – the upbeat I Breathe Again , most memorable for its steamy video and for being his only hit. Things didn’t get off to a good start when Adam missed his cue in the recording booth, and his off-key vocals forced him to record some sexualised breathing to make up for it.

Meanwhile, the toned hunk told the Mirror this week how he is battling the incurable condition Ankylosing Spondilitis that will one day leave him paralysed.

“I’m in excruciating pain every morning but I force myself to run 10 miles and still do 1,000 sit-ups,” he told them.

“I do it so I’ll be able to walk down the aisle and play with my kids in 10 years’ time.

“I want to be able to make love to my wife when I’m 50 and dance with her on Valentine’s Day when we’re 70.

“If I stop exercising for a day I’m crippled in pain, hobbling like an old man.

“After a week I’d be bedridden, a month and I’d be in a wheelchair for life.”

The rare disease causes the spine’s vertebrae to fuse together if they remain still for too long.

The only treatment is an anti-inflammatory drug to reduce the pain, but there is no known cure

The Big Reunion 2014 is on ITV2 on Thursdays at 9pm
