Chester Racecourse announcing a £600,000 loss from their Chester Rocks and Winter Wonderland events led to lots of our Chronicle readers leaving their opinions on our Facebook page.

We asked what your views on the two events were and you didn’t hold back.

Jay Broughton said, “Chester rocks was fun but it lacked that local touch. It should of had local food and local brewery stalls, plus some fun extra entertainment like a silent disco tent. Also have a second small stage with more music. Make it more about Chester and people will come.”

Lou Marie commented, “We miss Chester Rocks. It was a must for the Summer. I agree Winter Wonderland was a rip off. The best had to be the year when the big wheel was put in the law court.”

Katie Marie Green said, “I think Winter Wonderland was a lovely idea and my kids loved it but it was a bit over priced to be honest. Didn’t go to Chester Rocks but had promised my daughter tickets for it this year and then it didn’t happen! Oops!”

Lisa Fox-Pritchard stated, “Loved the Winter Wonderland. It was magical. We did everything and my little boy especially loved the ice rink. Hoping it’s there this year.”

Laura Jones commented, “ Perhaps would have been more magical if it was affordable. It was very pretty and the Santa’s grotto was lovely but the whole cost of an outing for a family was extortionate.”

Charlotte Webb said, “Winter Wonderland was great but definitely needed more child friendly stalls, free rides and free activities to keep children entertained.”

Jo Price said, “Winter Wonderland was a complete waste of money. Queue for Santa was far too long and staff were so unhelpful. So what’s to miss?”

Ali Chidlow commented, “Winter Wonderland was just one big fairground that charged a fortune. Stalls weren’t Christmassy at hall. The town hall area is more festive!”

Steve Waddilove said, “Putting profit before punters. The sooner they realise a happy customer comes back and spends more, the sooner they will turn it around.”

Lindsey Letman stated, “Everyone could see the issue with the Winter Wonderland - the cost to park and get in and then also to pay for the rides!”
