A TEAM of beauty consultants are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for research into breast cancer in memory of a friend who died of the disease.

The Virgin Vie home consultants will be holding a special fundraising evening at Witton Albion FC on Friday, December 1.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women under 35 and around 41,000 women and 300 men are newly diagnosed every year. The good news is that, thanks to earlier detection and improved treatment, death rates in the UK have fallen by a fifth in the last decade.'

Alarmingly, cases are increasing by more than 1% each year and the Virgin Vie team are keen to do their bit in the fight against it.

Team member Becky Tomlin, from Regent Street, Moulton, said: 'October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we want to raise as much aware-ness as we can. It's a disease that seems to touch everyone.

'We want to make as much money as possible, especially with the cause being so close to home.

'The night has got a James Bond theme and there are drinks and canapes on arrival. We will be doing a

showcase of the latest cosmetics, a quick make-over session, fashion show, raffle and disco with anything made on the night going to breast cancer research.

'We'd love to raise £2,000 - we've got some really good raffle prizes though we need to collect some more. If anyone can help it would be fantastic.'

Tickets are on sale through Nick Tomlin Cars, Oakmere, the Hair Cuttery on Market Way, Northwich, and the Flower Emporium, London Road, Northwich, priced £10.
