A FRODSHAM fundraiser has been nominated for a Your Champions accolade.

Denise Williamson, pictured, who runs the Blondies salon in the town, has been picked as a nominee in the Champion Person of the Year for the work she has done to help a number of good causes.

Margaret Fidler, who nominated Denise for the honour, said: “Denise has been raising funds for Africa and the hospice, and is always helping elderly people. She is amazing.”

Denise, who said she was shocked to be nominated, added: “My mum was in Halton Haven Hospice and that was how I got involved in raising money.

“My son went to West Cheshire College in Handbridge and then went to China last year, raising funds for underprivileged children.

“He was going to help more but then got a job with Chester Renaissance so we delivered funds to Dr Pauline Hutchinson (at the Just Care charity), to deliver funds for Uganda.”

Collectively, Denise has helped raise £3,000 for the hospice, with her son raising £3,000 via the China expedition. In addition, more than £1,000 has been raised so far for good causes in Uganda.
