THREE members of a group dedicated to helping the Japanese community in Cheshire have been put on the shortlist to win a Your Champions honour.

Keiko Gordon, Graham Gordon and Yumiko Sasaki have all been picked for the Champion Team of the Year as part of the Nipponkai (Japanese association) group, based in Chester.

Holly Pearson, who nominated the trio for the accolade, said: “Graham is chairman of Nipponkai, chairman of the West Cheshire BME (black, minority and ethic) Network and treasurer of the Friends of Edgar’s Field Park.

“Keiko is treasurer for Nipponkai and Yumiko is a member.

“They have been to meetings to aid the Nipponkai, help set up a mum and tots Japanese group, helped organise gathering Japanese books from the group and donate them to Chester Library for anyone to use.

“The Gordon family have personally helped clear Edgar’s Field Park of rubbish too.

“They are also the most caring and wonderful friends to all who are lucky enough to know them.”
