Fifteen-year-old James Guinan is  a Year 10 student at the Catholic High School, Chester.

The keen all round sportsman represented the school in rugby, basketball and athletics  while competing for West  Cheshire Athletics club.

While representing the  school at rugby he was part of  the emerging schools regional  final winning team.

James has also qualified as a  sports leader and works alongside our staff running sports  events while giving up his own  time to coach younger students.

Furthermore James plays  saxophone in our famous City  Jazz Orchestra including playing internationally.

In addition to a remarkable  academic ability he is also a  passionate sailor racing at local, national and international  level including competing at  this year’s world championship  in Denmark representing  Wales.

Stephen Gauller, who nominated him, said: “James is a  true all-rounder and asset to  the school and has proven that  success can be achieved in a  number of directions with  commitment and very hard  work.”
