YOUNG people are being offered the chance to get involved in volunteering.

Organisations including Young Enterprise North West, Young Carers, Waterways Action Squad, the British Red Cross, and Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Waste Reduction are looking for people to come forward.

Dee Gunning, youth volunteer advisor at Volunteer Centre Chester, said: “The variety of volunteer opportunities these organisations offer are ideal for young people because they give a taster of different job roles which is vital when they are thinking about their future career options.

“Volunteer opportunities for young people are designed to be fun and there really is something for everyone.”

Helen Blank from Blacon Community Trust hopes that the event will encourage more young people from Blacon to consider volunteering.

“Blacon has a long history of volunteering and young volunteers are a real inspiration to others.”

The event, for people aged 14-25, is on Thursday, September 30 from 4.30pm - 6.30pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Norris Road, Blacon.

As well as meeting the organisations, there’ll also be the opportunity to hear about the V awards and the Duke of Edinburgh awards in an informal setting, over light refreshments.
