YOUNG carers in Frodsham donned their chefs hats and dished up treats to learn about healthy living.

Members of the Northwich and District Youth Club spent some much needed leisure time enjoying learning how to cook thanks to a £500 donation from Weaver Vale Housing Trust.

The club, which gives young people who care for sick relatives a chance to socialise and learn skills, used the money to buy ingredients and equipment.

Youth worker Helen Davies said: “Without the support of organisations like Weaver Vale Housing Trust we would not be able to run clubs like this.

“Our young carers group promotes healthy living and also helps to boost the self-esteem and confidence of the youngsters as well as giving them the opportunity to meet other carers.”

Organisers hope members will use their new skills to lead more healthy lifestyles and use their new skills at home.

Support officer Karen Cromwell said: “Northwich and District Youth Club is making a real difference to the lives of young carers in Mid Cheshire.”
