Two women have been handed over to the ambulance service after being released by fire crews following a collision involving two vehicles.

Emergency services are attending the scene of the crash at the junction of Manley Road and New Pale Road, near Frodsham , which was reported about 4.20pm today (Wednesday, December 16).

Fire engines from Frodsham, Runcorn and Widnes are there.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free two women from the wreckage of one of the vehicles. One of the casualties was put on to a stretcher. The condition of both casualties is not known at this stage.

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said at 5.20pm: “One woman was freed from a vehicle by the crew who used cutting equipment. A second woman also needed the assistance of the crews to get out of one of the vehicles. Paramedics attended along with police.”

Cheshire police and fire services have both tweeted that the junction is closed.
