A 30-YEAR-OLD woman suffered a serious leg injury after slipping on a rock face at Bickerton Hill.

The female walker badly twisted her knee at about 2.20pm yesterday (Thursday, August 30) and was taken to Leighton Hospital.

Paramedics were helped at the scene by a fire crew from Chester and the special rope rescue unit at Knutsford.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We called for the assistance of the fire service due to the location as it was quite steep and muddy.”

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “Fire crews including the specialist rope rescue unit assisted ambulance personnel to rescue a female with a severe injury to her right leg on high ground above Wrexham Road at Bickerton.

“The casualty was placed in an ambulance for transportation to hospital.”
