A woman is facing nearly seven years behind bars after robbing a vulnerable pensioner in her own home.

Stacey Williams, of Walnut Avenue, Weaverham , was given a jail sentence of six years and eight months at Chester Crown Court after admitting the attack on a 70-year-old woman in Rudheath.

The court heard that Williams, 37, knocked on the pensioner's door and asked for money, which she refused. Williams followed her in the house and continued to ask for money.

She then attacked the victim, knocking her to the floor and stole her purse, leaving her with cuts bruises and injuries to her leg.

PC Vicki Shelton from Cheshire police, said: “The victim had nasty injuries as a result of the attack and has been badly affected by her ordeal, not just physically but psychologically.

"Williams had attacked her in her own home, a place where should feel safe; she took that feeling of safety away from her victim who has suffered greatly as a result of this.

“She is afraid to leave her home, struggles with her mobility due to the injury to her leg and has trouble sleeping due to the trauma.

"I hope that this conviction will help the victim get some form of closure and help her to recover in some way from this.”
