A WOMAN driver died after her vehicle was involved in a head-on collision.

The 34-year-old female, from Wilmslow, was in a silver Land Rover Freelander when it was involved in a collision with a silver Lexus on the A550 Welsh Road, Little Sutton, near the Cheshire Yeoman restaurant about 8.10pm last night (Friday).

At the time of the collision she was driving towards the A540 at Two Mills with the other car, driven by. 42-year-old male from Buckley, travelling in the opposite direction.

Fire crews were called because the woman was reported to be trapped in her vehicle.

North West Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances to the scene.

An ambulance spokeswoman confirmed two patients were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital including the female who was in cardiac arrest and was given CPR on the way.

Doctors at the hospital were put on standby to receive her. Cheshire Police have confirmed she later died. The male driver was treated for minor injuries.
