POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision in Chester yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a collision on Green Lane, Vicars Cross at its junction with Pearl Lane at around 2.50pm.

The collision involved a lorry, a Honda Civic and a Ford Fiesta.

Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman Shelley Williams said: “The occupants of the Fiesta, who are an elderly couple from Boughton sustained injuries in the collision. “The woman, aged 82, sustained leg and facial injuries and the 79-year-old man was taken to Hospital with chest injuries.

“They remain hospitalised today condition is described as stable.”

The driver of the Civic was uninjured.

A 40-year-old man from Wrexham, who was driving the lorry, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and following interview, has been given police bail until September 28.
