A Winsford primary school has been on TV as its choir tries to land the coveted Christmas number one spot.

Oak View Academy pupils have released their rendition of Wizzard’s ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’.

Their aim is to raise £100,000 to fund a full-time speech and language therapist for three years.

The school was featured on ITV Granada News on Monday evening (November 21).

Principal Fiona Rimmer told ITV: “Many of our children come in with poor speech and communication skills.

“That makes it very difficult for them to be understood and for them to understand what it is we are trying to teach them from nursery onwards.

“If that’s not sorted out very early on then it’s a problem for the children as they go all the way through school.”

Oak View Academy in Winsford has released its own Christmas single

Long dominated by winners of ITV talent show The X Factor, the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir beat the odds to take the festive top spot.

Oak View will face tough competition when their single is released on December 16.

It is already available for pre-order for 99p on iTunes and Google Play .
