Love is in the air in Chester this month and a £750 dream marriage proposal is up for grabs for a lucky lady willing to take the leap.

The city’s business improvement district, CH1ChesterBID, is offering to play cupid to help make one woman’s leap year marriage proposal that extra bit special.

£500 of the prize money can be spent on luxury accommodation for two in the city or a romantic meal in one of Chester city centre restaurants and a further £250 for the perfect ring from an independent or high street jeweller.

CH1ChesterBID’s Marketing Manager Julie Charlton said: “Whatever the winner wants to do in order to make this their own perfect proposal, we’ll do our very best to make it happen!

“Chester is the original city of love and we want to celebrate that throughout February. From the half-timbered buildings to the historic city walls; the elegant Eastgate Clock to the ancient Cathedral, everywhere you turn there’s romantic history and heritage and it’s the perfect backdrop for a marriage proposal.”

To enter and be in with a chance of winning share your proposal idea by emailing competitions@ch1chesterbid.co.uk but remember, it must take place in Chester city centre.

According to ancient legend, in the 5th century St Bridget – one of Ireland’s patron saints – struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men every four years on February 29 – Leap Day.

CH1ChesterBID will pick a winner on February 22 2016 and contact the lucky lady the same day.
