So how would the Cheshire Constabulary spend the extra £2.93 a month from each Council Tax-payer?

Assistant Chief Constable David Baines said that:

64p would add 57 more police or police community support officers (PCSOs) to increase visible patrols in neighbourhoods.

57p would improve response to calls by recruiting 60 more staff – police officers and civilians – for better call management and more front line officers.

19p toward speedier justice, better equipment to process offenders who have mental health, substance abuse or language difficulties.

4p would improve monitoring the county’s 1,100 sex offenders as numbers continue to increase, employing six more staff.

26p is earmarked for extra resources for witness protection and victim support as serious crimes increase.

10p would go toward creating customer service desks to keep people informed when they reported incidents.

10p for counter terror initiatives and undercover staff working with the regional crime unit linking Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire forces.
