A West Cheshire College student has landed her dream job as a cabin crew member with British Airways.

Penny Martin, 18, from Tarvin, has gone straight into employment after completing the Level 2 17+ gateway to employment in cabin crew course at the college.

Penny said: “I’ve always wanted to work in the travel industry and after I attended the college’s recruitment evening, I realised working as a cabin crew member was what I wanted to do.

“West Cheshire College is the ideal place to study cabin crew as there is a mock aircraft cabin so you get fantastic hands-on experience.

“During my interview stages with British Airways, I really felt that the skills, knowledge and experience I had gained through the college course helped me through the intense training. I’m really excited that I have completed my training with them and been presented with my ‘wings’ to start flying.”

Claire de grey Homer, programme leader for travel and tourism at West Cheshire College, said: “Penny worked extremely hard whilst studying at the college. She was a complete natural in the mock aircraft cabin so I have no doubt that she will fit into her new role perfectly.

“We are delighted that Penny has landed a role straight after finishing her course with one of the industry’s leading companies.

“Many students who complete the travel and tourism courses here at the college go straight into employment with established companies in the industry which is a huge credit to our courses.”
