THE Cotebrook Shire Horse centre staff were keen to show off their website star foal at the Cheshire Show.

The Colt foal Cotebrook Ben Lomond achieved an impressive third place in the shire horse colt foal competition at the show.

Janet King, owner of the centre, said: “He was the largest foal in that class and he has speckled legs and I think that went against him.

“We were really pleased with Ben Lomond because he was very well behaved for such a young horse.”

Since Cotebrook Ben Lomond’s birth in January his progress has featured in a video diary on the Cheshire Show’s website.

Janet added: “The video diaries were really popular, and lots of people have commented on them. It’s nice now to allow those who have watched his progress come and meet him.”

The centre entered two other horses in different sections of the competitions.

Acle Major came third in the yearling colt section, and Cotebrook Loch Carron came fourth in the Brood Mare with foal at foot section.

Janet said: “We didn’t enter many horses in the competition this year so weren’t expecting too much but we are happy with how we did.”
