The ever adorable Erin Cross revealed her cheeky side when she made an ITV newsreader blush live on air by asking if she is single.

The seven-year-old from Upton posed the hilarious question during an interview about her scooping a WellChild Award for her courageous leukaemia battle.

She was presented with the gong by Prince Harry on Monday night (October 16).

But during her TV appearance the inspirational schoolgirl - who has endured chemotherapy, radiation treatment and a bone marrow transplant - said she had a question for newsreader Lucrezia Millarini.

She said: "I got a question from a friend. Are you single?"

The stunned presenter clearly wasn't expecting it, and responded: "Erin! I'm blushing."

The Mirror reports that the newsreader later released a statement which said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Erin. Her story really is an inspirational one.

"She's been through so much for someone so young and she's done it all with a smile on her face and with an amazingly positive attitude. A lesson to us all.

“I knew Erin had a question for me because she told me before we went on air. Needless to say I had no idea it would be this one!

"She'd already mentioned not letting her dad do embarrassing 'dad dancing' at last night's award ceremony and that she'd met Prince Harry 'more times than his girlfriend'. So I knew she was a bit of a character!

“And yes, I'm not easily embarrassed but this question did make me blush. I didn't get to answer on air - am I single? No, happily married.”

In an emotional speech last night, Prince Harry praised the 'amazingly brave' children who won the awards.

He said: "Many of the children and young people WellChild support have been dealt the hardest card imaginable in life, and yet their courage inspires the most incredible strength in those around them."

WellChild is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families and through its nationwide network of WellChild Nurses, home makeover projects and family support programmes, gives the youngsters the best chance to thrive at home, together with their families.
