The Lords Taverners were the proud recipient of one of this month’s cheques from the Waitrose Community Giving which supports local groups and charities and are nominated by customers.

A token is given to each customer shopping in the store to drop in a box of one of the three charities nominated that month.

Chris Talbot, one of the organisers of the Lords Taverners annual cricket match at Cholmondeley Castle, was invited into the Boughton store to collect the cheque from personal champion manager Paul Upton.

Mr Upton was happy to present the cheque to the Lords Taverners, who raise money to give people particularly those with special needs a sporting chance.

Chris, who has been a member of the Lords and Lady Taverners for 24 years, said: “It is always lovely to know that there are many people in the city who support the work we do.”
