VOLUNTEER Centre Chester can offer much-needed hope and encouragement to local people affected by the strains of 2009’s difficult economic climate. For anyone finding themselves without work, perhaps newly redundant, perhaps on reduced hours or still seeking that first elusive step into a career, voluntary work can offer opportunities to open new doors, meet new people, learn new skills, and gain valuable experience in a new field.

Opportunities include: Advice, administration, befriending and buddying, children and families, catering, computers, conservation, day centres, driving, education, gardening, hospital work, mentoring, museums, sport, supportive activities, and youth work.

For anyone wishing to find out more, the Volunteer Centre produces a booklet Voluntary Work in Chester giving detailed information on local volunteering and this is available from their offices at Folliott House, 53 Northgate Street, Chester CH1 2HQ, Tel. 01244 316587 or email volunteercentre@chesterva.org.uk
