A man is fighting for his life after being attacked on an Ellesmere Port street.

The 25-year-old is currently in a critical condition in the Walton Centre in Liverpool following the violent assault, which took place on April 25.

A group of men had been drinking in an alleyway by Woodfield Road, near Victoria Road, between 12.30am and 1.30am, when an “altercation” took place between two of them.

The victim was knocked down and suffered a head injury, with passers-by coming to his aid.

He didn’t seek medical help until April 30, when he began feeling ill.

His condition is now critical and Cheshire police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack.

The force has released details of the man wanted over the assault, as well as three others believed to have been with him.

The attacker is described as white, about 20–22, slim and around 5ft 8in tall with short dark hair.

He was wearing a black or navy coloured tracksuit top with zip up the front with no clear patterns or motif and dark pants.

One of the men thought to have been with him was described as being in his 30s, white, 6ft tall with a dark beard and dark cropped hair.

Another was white, very skinny, around 22-23 and had blond or strawberry-blond hair.

The men were seen in the vicinity of Victoria Road and Whitby Road before leaving the area.

DS Rob Grantham said: “This took place in a residential area and members of the public were around following the assault.

“I would urge anyone who saw the assault or the aftermath, or knows who these men are, to contact me so that we can find the person responsible for a violent assault which has left a man fighting for his life.”

Anyone with information should contact DS Grantham on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
