PARENTS have one more week to let staff, council and governors know what they think about plans to give a community high school foundation status.

The change would take place from January 14.

A legal notice says that as a high performing specialist school, the community high school wishes to take advantage of the greater autonomy and control offered to the governing body by foundation status.

It claims this would enable the school to build on its existing partnerships and to create new ones and to improve the standards of attainment and services for pupils, students and their families.

The school would have the opportunity to continue to work in partnership with the local authority and others on national and local initiatives and developments which would be tailored to meet the specific needs of Tarporley and its community.

The school would continue to create an environment where all learners of any age would have access to a wide range of learning opportunities and support. The change would help the school to raise standards and make a direct contribution to raising achievement and improving the well-being and aspirations of students.

Details of the proposals can be obtained from the school. Representations should be made to the governing body by next Friday.
