RESIDENTS living in Vicars Cross are being asked to come to a consultation drop-in session where the future of the Square One Centre building will be discussed.

The event is taking place on Wednesday, September 26, from 5.30-7pm at Square One and people are being asked to put forward their views and ideas about what sort of activities the centre could host.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is working with Great Boughton Parish Council to secure the future of the Square One Centre as a community facility.

It is hoped the centre, which is on Thackeray Drive, will continue to be a thriving hub in the Vicars Cross community when Great Boughton Parish Council takes over the running of the centre from Cheshire West and Chester Council in 2013.

Cheshire West and Chester Cllr Pamela Hall said: “Great Boughton residents are keen to ensure that community assets such as the Square One building are able to be retained and continued to be used to benefit residents.”

Cllr John Salt of Great Boughton Parish Council said: “Great Boughton Parish Council is excited about the prospect of taking a lease on Square One, and ensuring that it is managed so that it meets a range of local community needs and aspirations.

“We are also working to ensure that the local community is involved in managing and running the facility.”

Great Boughton Parish Council is hosting the drop-in session at Square One Centre to give local people the opportunity to talk about their ideas for the future of the centre.
