A pre-school which has been meeting in the same location for more than 30 years is to move to a neighbouring village so it can open five days a week.

From September, Little Budworth Pre-School, which currently meets at the village hall three times a week, will move sessions to nearby Cotebrook Village Hall to allow the playgroup to ‘grow and prosper’ under its new name Cotebrook Pre-School.

Sarah Meredith, the mother of a child attending the pre-school and chair of the pre-school committee, said: “We understand this marks the end of an era for the village but we believe this difficult decision will enable the pre-school to survive, grow and prosper.

“With these changes it gives many more parents a viable alternative to private nursery childcare.”

The new facility will retain the same long-serving team.

To mark the changes, the committee is holding an open fun day this Saturday for parents and their children to meet the staff and see the new facilities.

There will be a barbecue, prize raffle and activities for children.

The event, which is free to enter, runs from 2pm to 4pm and will double up as a fundraiser to help with the purchase of new equipment for when the pre-school moves to its new home.

It is anticipated that the number of children attending pre-school will greatly increase. Funded sessions for two and three year olds are available and parents can choose to book their child in for morning or afternoon sessions or for the whole day.
