THE Mid-Cheshire College stand at the Cheshire Show will showcase displays and host activities this year.

Visitors are invited alog today (Wednesday) to learn about the full-time and part-time courses on offer, and the new part-time course guide will be available.

Activities for children include face-painting and the chance to decorate a mini-gingerbread man and balloons courtesy of Hankinsons.

There will also be pampering by the beauty students including massage and nail treatments, while the motor vehicle department will show off a sports car and there will also be a free-to-enter competition.

Visitors can also try their hand at creative computing with the new media team.

BEAUTY AND HOLISTIC THERAPY
BEAUTY students will be offering treatments including manicures in the college marquee.

The beauty and holistic therapy courses at the college are going from strength to strength, with students training in fully-equipped salons using industry-standard equipment.

MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE
THE college's new course in motorcycle maintenance and repair has proved to be a success.

During the two-year programme, validated by the Institute of the Motor Industry, students will learn skills including suspension systems, operating principles of engines and electrical and electronic technology and new motorcycle assembly.

HOSPITALITY AND CATERING
THERE are exciting career opportunities in hospitality and catering for those enjoying life in the fast lane.

Catering students will be decorating biscuits in the college marquee and performing Re a d y Cheshire Cook in the main food marquee today (Wednesday).

The college offers a variety of courses for those interested in a career in hospitality and catering.

GRAPHIC DESIGN
THE college is a Centre of Vocational Excellence in New Media Design and students will experience the latest industry-standard equipment.

Students as young as 14 are learning design skills thanks to the national initiative for those aged 14-16 to come into college from school to study vocational GCS E s.

Jason Broadhurst, Kara Prince, Grace Triggs, Sarah Tulstall and Wiktoria Hodnett progressed from the 14-16 project and are currently studying a two-year National Diploma in graphic design.

Some will be continuing on to university but the majority are staying at Mid-Cheshire College to study foundation degree level. They will spend a total of six years at the college and will benefit from the new £3.5m art building to be opened next year.
